Description
As I’m sure you can imagine, the Alaskan Pipeline is built to withstand a lot. It runs from the Prudhoe Bay on the northernmost coast of Alaska down to Valdez on the southernmost coast, about 800 miles of wilderness. It’s built to withstand earthquakes, forest fires and most anything else that comes at it.
But in 2001, Daniel Carson Lewis took his 4×4 and his .338 rifle out for some fun, took some shots at the pipe, and actually managed to put a hole in it. Before the spill was contained and the pipeline was restarted three days later, 258,000 gallons of oil had spilled out and it cost $17 million to clean up. And that was just one hole.
There’s a pipeline like this in our shops. Instead of Prudhoe to Valdez, it runs from the street to the front counter to the tech to the advisement to sign-out to follow up and back again. When that pipeline is functioning correctly, it brings customers back to us time and again…and when it’s leaking, you can almost see your money spilling everywhere.
This class is designed to help you and your service writers, managers and shop foremans fix those leaks and expand the pipeline running through your shop. Until the pipeline is fixed, that massive spill might as well be your marketing and advertising budget…and getting that pipeline back up and running is one of the surest ways we know to making more money and doing it with less stress.
