THE MOST IMPORTANT MEETING OF THE DAY

The 10 Minute Meeting is the key to holding your team accountable on a daily basis. From celebrating hit targets to finding solutions to problem areas, the 10 Minute Meeting is the most important meeting your shop will ever have.

What is a Ten Minute Meeting™?

The Ten Minute Meeting™ is a daily training and accountability meeting where the manager and service advisor(s) review the numbers from the previous day by no later than 10am. Each item on each repair order with a variance below Target is discussed. Solutions are found in order to prevent the same mistakes from occurring again. Accountability is established with new commitments by the advisor on following procedures for insuring the attainment of the Target. When a Reporting Agenda is used, it formalizes this process and keeps the meeting focused and on point.

As the advisor becomes completely trained in what it takes to produce and consistently hit the Target, he or she should conduct that meeting in a format where they simply return and report their performance from the previous day to the manager. If performance is below Target, they should address specifics with the manager and commit to fix it. This daily repetition will begin to identify and solve the issues related to under-performance. By establishing this level of responsibility, the advisor will come to understand what is expected and will not want to come into the Ten Minute Meeting™ the next day with excuses and without answers for continued under-performance.

A Ten Minute Meeting™ is not a COMPLAINT SESSION where everything wrong with the shop or with life is discussed. It must be kept to variances in numbers and a discussion of the causes and solutions using a Reporting Agenda.
