“I have been to other shop management weekend, and one day seminars in the past, and have always learned a lot that has helped improve my business. With the others though, I never felt as if it was tailored to my shop. I operate a 2500 square foot two bay facility in a small rural town in Wisconsin. At one of the seminars I was even told that I was too small of an operation, and that they could not help me.

“That is one of the first things that drew me to Auto Profit Masters. The program is tailored to you, and your facility. You are looking at your numbers and how to improve them, not being told that things must be done this way or you will fail.

“My shop was doing a good business before I started with APM, but we are looking to expand and I knew that I did not want to go into a bigger facility before fully reaching the maximum potential of this one. I realized that if we had shortcomings here that a larger scale would only make those problems worse.

“Like most smaller shops I started as a good technician that had a opportunity to get into business. I had no formal business training, no service adviser skills. Just a smile and a desire to fix cars. It took me ten years of struggling to realize that there is far, far more to this business than fixing the car. A customer can take a car most anyplace and it will get fixed, it may have tons of extra parts on it that it didn’t need, but the end result will be that it is fixed.

“For me since starting with APM I think the most valuable thing I have learned is from the service adviser training. (And being able to break the numbers down to see what needs to be improved with the RPM Tool Kit) The podcasts and training classes are amazing. It really opened my eyes as to how to present things to customers, how to overcome objections, how to stop price shopping, and how to build trust with customers.

The proof is in the numbers. When you can see it broken down, you can focus on what needs to be fixed to get to your goal. It is far more than just ARO. All of my numbers have seen significant improvement since coming on board.

“My account manager has been amazing as well. He keeps me on track and we go over the numbers on a weekly basis. If I ever have any questions, or concerns he is available. Without the extra guidance that an account manager can provide I think myself and most shops would fall back into the way they have always done things.

“For the first time in my 15 years in business I am not struggling to pay my bills, cars are lined up outside, customer satisfaction is up, and despite raising my prices car count is up. We have set our shop apart from the competition in a way I did not think possible in a small rural community. I feel that now we are ready to expand, and I feel good about it. It is no longer a gamble, I am certain that with what I have learned from APM, we will exceed our goals.
